เมื่อวันที่ 15 มกราคม 2564 นายไพศาล หรูพาณิชย์กิจ เอกอัครราชทูตประจำสาธารณรัฐฮอนดูรัส ถิ่นพำนัก ณ กรุงเม็กซิโก ได้เข้าเยี่ยมคารวะนาย Gerardo A. Simón Yerres เอกอัครราชทูตสาธารณรัฐฮอนดูรัสประจำสหรัฐเม็กซิโก เพื่อมอบเงินบริจาคจากรัฐบาลไทยจำนวน 10,000 ดอลลาร์สหรัฐ (ประมาณ 300,000 บาท) แก่รัฐบาลสาธารณรัฐฮอนดูรัส สำหรับการฟื้นฟูประเทศหลังได้รับผลกระทบอย่างหนักจากพายุเฮอร์ริเคน อีตา (Eta) และพายุเฮอริเคน ไอโอตา (Iota) เมื่อเดือนพฤศจิกายน 2563 ซึ่งเป็นการยืนยันถึงมิตรภาพและไมตรีจิตของไทยต่อรัฐบาลและประชาชนของสาธารณรัฐฮอนดูรัส และความมุ่งมั่นที่จะส่งเสริมความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างสองประเทศ

    ในการพบปะกันครั้งนี้ ทั้งสองฝ่ายได้ลงนามในเอกสารรับมอบเงินบริจาค โดยนาย Gerardo  A. Simón Yerres ในนามของรัฐบาลสาธารณรัฐฮอนดูรัส ได้กล่าวขอบคุณรัฐบาลไทยสำหรับการบริจาคเงินในครั้งนี้ ซึ่งจะช่วยบรรเทาความเสียหายที่เกิดขึ้นจากพายุดังกล่าว

    ทั้งสองฝ่ายยังได้ใช้โอกาสนี้หารือประเด็นความร่วมมือทวิภาคีในสาขาต่าง ๆ อาทิ เศรษฐกิจ วิชาการ การท่องเที่ยว การพัฒนาอย่างยั่งยืนตามหลักปรัชญาของเศรษฐกิจพอเพียง การเยือนทางธุรกิจเพื่อแสวงหาลู่ทางการลงทุนในประเทศฮอนดูรัส เพื่อกระชับความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างสองประเทศให้แน่นแฟ้นยิ่งขึ้นต่อไป

    Ambassador-Designate of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Republic of Honduras, with residence in Mexico City, presented a 10,000 USD Donation from the Royal Thai Government to the Government of the Republic of Honduras to alleviate the damages caused by Hurricanes Eta and Iota

    On 15 Janauray 2021, H.E. Mr. Paisan Rupanichkij, Ambassador-Designate of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Republic of Honduras, with residence in Mexico City, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Gerardo A. Simón Yerres, Ambassador of the Republic of Honduras to the United Mexican States to present a donation of 10,000 USD from the Royal Thai Government to the Government of the Republic of Honduras for the recovery and reconstruction of the country seriously affected by Hurricanes Eta and Iota in November 2020. This donation reaffirms Thailand’s friendship and goodwill towards the Government and the people of the Republic of Honduras, as well as her commitment to fostering the relations between the two countries.

    At the meeting, the two sides signed a document confirming the receipt of the said donation. H.E. Mr. Gerardo A. Simón Yerres expressed, on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Honduras, his sincere appreciation to the Royal Thai Government for her contribution which will help alleviate the damages caused by the hurricanes.

    Both sides also took this opportunity to discuss bilateral issues in various areas such as economic and technical cooperation, tourism and sustainable development based on the Philosophy of Sufficiency Economy, and a business trip to explore investment opportunities in Honduras with a view to further strengthening the relations between the two countries.
