    เมื่อวันที่ 24 กันยายน 2563 นายวิชชุ เวชชาชีวะ อธิบดีกรมอเมริกาและแปซิฟิกใต้ ได้พบหารือกับเอกอัครราชทูตกลุ่มประเทศลาตินอเมริกาและแคริบเบียนประจําประเทศไทย (อาร์เจนตินา บราซิล ชิลี โคลอมเบีย คิวบา กัวเตมาลาเม็กซิโก ปานามา และเปรู) ณ Pacific City Club เกี่ยวกับโอกาสการถเสริมสร้างความร่วมมือระหว่างไทยกับภูมิภาคลาตินอเมริกาและแคริบเบียน โดยเฉพาะด้านเศรษฐกิจ และการค้าการลงทุน เพื่อฟื้นฟูเศรษฐกิจที่ได้รับผลประทบจากการแพร่ระบาดของโควิด-19 ตลอดจนส่งเสริมความร่วมมือด้านอื่น ๆ อาทิ สาธารณสุข เทคโนโลยีชีวภาพ พลังงานทดแทน การท่องเที่ยว วัฒนธรรม เทคโนโลยีสารสนเทศ และความร่วมมือใต้-ใต้ นอกจากนี้ ทั้งสองฝ่ายได้หารือเกี่ยวกับกิจกรรมที่กรมอเมริกาฯ ได้ดำเนินการลุล่วงและแผนงานโครงการ

 

    ในอนาคต รวมถึงการร่วมจัดสัมมนาหัวข้อ”โอกาส ศักยภาพและความท้าทายทางการค้าและการลงทุนในภูมิภาคลาตินอเมริกาและแคริบเบียน” ในห้วงปี 2564 เพื่อเผยแพร่ข้อมูลที่ทันสมัยและตอบสนองต่อความต้องการของภาคเอกชนใน 3 มิติ ได้แก่ (1) การกำหนดสาขาธุรกิจและสินค้าที่มีศักยภาพ (2) กระบวนการและกฎระเบียบในการดำเนินธุรกิจ และ (3) การแนะนำเครือข่ายภาครัฐและเอกชนในลาตินอเมริกาฯ ที่น่าเชื่อถือ เพื่อเสริมสร้างความมั่นใจในการประกอบธุรกิจในลาตินอเมริกา ภายหลังการหารือ อธิบดีกรมอเมริกาและแปซิฟิกใต้ได้เป็นเจ้าภาพเลี่ยงอาหารค่ำ (working dinner) ให้แก่เอกอัครราชทูตลาตินอเมริกาลาตินอเมริกาและแคริบเบียนด้วย

 

    On 24 October 2020, Mr. Witchu Vejjajiva, Director-General of the Department of American and South Pacific Affairs, had a meeting with Ambassadors of the Group of Latin American and Caribbean Countries (GRULAC) in Thailand (Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Guatemala, Mexico, Panama and Peru) to discuss about opportunities in strengthening cooperation, especially in economic and trade and investment areas between Thailand and Latin America and the Caribbean region in order to revitalize each other’s economies which has been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Also, other areas of cooperation that the two sides wish to promote include public health, biotechnology, alternative energy, tourism, culture, telecommunications and south-south cooperation. In addition, both sides discussed recent activities and planned activities being jointly organized with the Department of American and South Pacific Affairs including a seminar on Opportunities, Potential, and Challenges of Trade and Investment in Latin America and the Caribbean. scheduled for 2021. The purpose of this seminar is to provide timely information and be responsive to the needs of the private in 3 aspects, (1) Products - identify businesses/products with potential, (2) Procedure - clarify process and regulations in conduction business, and (3) Partners - recommend network of reliable partners, both public/public sector, in order business confidence. Following the discussion, the Director-General hosted dinner for the GRULAC Ambassadors.
