เมื่อวันที่ ๒๗ กุมภาพันธ์ ๒๕๖๗ นางอิลเซ ลิเลียน เฟร์เรร์ ซิลบา (Ilse Lilián Ferrer Silva) เอกอัครราชทูตสหรัฐเม็กซิโกประจำประเทศไทย เข้าเยี่ยมคารวะนายเชษฐพันธ์ มากสัมพันธ์ อธิบดีกรมอเมริกาและแปซิฟิกใต้ ในโอกาสที่เอกอัครราชทูตฯ เข้ารับหน้าที่

ทั้งสองฝ่ายยินดีกับพัฒนาการในความสัมพันธ์ทวิภาคีไทย-เม็กซิโก ในปี ๒๕๖๖ ซึ่งฝ่ายเม็กซิโกได้เป็นเจ้าภาพจัดการประชุมหารือทางการเมือง (Political Consultations) ไทย-เม็กซิโก ครั้งที่ ๕ และใช้โอกาสนี้ ขอบคุณฝ่ายไทยที่ได้ให้ความช่วยเหลือผู้ประสบภัยจากพายุเฮอริเคน Otis ในเม็กซิโกเมื่อเดือนตุลาคม ๒๕๖๖

นอกจากนี้ ทั้งสองฝ่ายยังได้หารือถึงแผนงานการกระชับความสัมพันธ์ทวิภาคีระหว่างกัน โดยเฉพาะในโอกาสครบรอบ ๕๐ ปีของการสถาปนาความสัมพันธ์ไทย-เม็กซิโก ในปี ๒๕๖๘ ซึ่งครอบคลุมกิจกรรมในการส่งเสริมความร่วมมือด้านเศรษฐกิจ การค้าการลงทุน การท่องเที่ยว การแลกเปลี่ยนการเยือนและการหารือทวิภาคีระดับสูง ความร่วมมือทางวิชาการ ความสัมพันธ์ระดับประชาชน ความร่วมมือในกรอบพหุภาคี ความร่วมมือด้านการเกษตร อาหารและความยั่งยืน เป็นต้น

On 27 February 2024, H.E. Ms. (lse Lilián Ferrer Silva, Ambassador of the United Mexican States to the Kingdom of Thailand, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Chettaphan Maksamphan, Director-General of the Department of American and South Pacific Affairs, upon the Ambassador’s assumption of duty.

Both sides welcomed the positive developments of Thai-Mexican relations in 2023, including the hosting of the 5th Meeting of Thailand-Mexico Political Consultations by the Mexican side. The Ambassador of Mexico also took the opportunity to express gratitude to the Thai side for the assistance extended to the victims of the Hurricane Otis in Mexico last October.

The meeting also discussed on the further strengthening of Thailand-Mexico ties, which 50th anniversary will be commemorated in 2025. Activities to celebrate such occasion encompass the promotion of Thai-Mexican economic partnership, trade and investment, tourism, high-level meetings and exchanges of visits, technical cooperation, people-to-people contacts, multilateral cooperation as well as cooperation in food, sustainability and agriculture, among others.
