เมื่อวันที่ 6 ส.ค. 2567 น.ส. บุษฎี สันติพิทักษ์ รองปลัดกระทรวงการต่างประเทศ เข้าเยี่ยมคารวะนางเกลาเดีย ซันอูเอซา ริเบโรส รัฐมนตรีช่วยว่าการกระทรวงการต่างประเทศสาธารณรัฐชิลี ฝ่ายเศรษฐกิจระหว่างประเทศ ในโอกาสเดินทางเยือนสาธารณรัฐชิลีเพื่อเป็นประธานร่วมฝ่ายไทยในการประชุม Political Consultations ไทย-ชิลี ครั้งที่ 7 ซึ่งฝ่ายชิลีเป็นเจ้าภาพ และโครงการนำนักธุรกิจไทยเยือนลาตินอเมริกา (Latin Link)

ในโอกาสนี้ ทั้งสองฝ่ายได้หารือเกี่ยวกับแนวทางการกระชับความร่วมมือทางเศรษฐกิจไทย - ชิลีให้ใกล้ชิดและมีพลวัตสูงยิ่งขึ้น ในระดับทวิภาคี สองฝ่ายเห็นพ้องผลักดันประเด็นคั่งค้างภายใต้ FTA ไทย-ชิลี ซึ่งเป็น FTA ฉบับสมบูรณ์ฉบับแรกของไทยกับประเทศลาตินอเมริกา รวมทั้งได้หารือแนวทางในการจัดทำความตกลงเพื่อส่งเสริมการลงทุนระหว่างกัน เป็นต้น

ในระดับพหุภาคี ทั้งสองฝ่ายหารือเกี่ยวกับการเข้าร่วมเป็นสมาชิกในกรอบองค์การเพื่อความร่วมมือทางเศรษฐกิจและการพัฒนา (OECD) ของไทย และในกรอบความตกลงหุ้นส่วนทางเศรษฐกิจระดับภูมิภาค (RCEP) ของชิลี รวมทั้งความร่วมมือระหว่างอาเซียนกับกลุ่มพันธมิตรแปซิฟิก (PA)

On 6 August 2024, H.E. Ms. Busadee Santipitaks, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mrs. Claudia Sanhueza Riveros, Under–Secretary for International Economic Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affair of the Republic of Chile, during her visit to Chile to co-chair the 7th Meeting of Thailand - Chile Political Consultations hosted by Chile, and to carry out the Latin Link project 2024.

At the courtesy call, both sides discussed ways to further enhance the dynamism of Thai-Chilean economic relations. At the bilateral level, the two countries agreed to expedite the pending issues under Thailand-Chile Free Trade Agreement (TCFTA), which is the first comprehensive FTA between Thailand and Latin American countries, and to explore the options for the negotiation of a bilateral investment treaty.

On the multilateral economic front, both sides discussed Thailand’s application to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), and Chile’s to the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), as well as cooperation in the ASEAN-Pacific Alliance (PA) arena.
