เมื่อวันที่ 10 กันยายน 2563 (เวลา 14.00-16.00 น.) กรมอเมริกาและแปซิฟิกใต้ร่วมมือกับมูลนิธิเอเชีย (The Asia Foundation) ประจำประเทศไทย จัดการหารือโต๊ะกลมในหัวข้อการเลือกตั้งประธานาธิบดีสหรัฐฯ ปี 2563 (Roundtable Discussion on the 2020 U.S. Presidential Election) ณ ห้องประชุม 3 โดยมีนายวิชชุ เวชชาชีวะ อธิบดีกรมอเมริกาและแปซิฟิกใต้เป็นผู้กล่าวเปิดการหารือ และมีผู้เชี่ยวชาญด้านการเมืองสหรัฐฯ คัดเลือกโดยมูลนิธิเชีย ประกอบด้วย นาย Dan Fineman จากบริษัท Credit Suisse นาย Paul Wedel คณะกรรมการบอร์ด โครงการ Fulbright นาย James Stent สมาชิกคณะกรรมการสยามสมาคมในพระบรมราชูปถัมป์ และนาย Thomas Parks และนาย Benjamin Zawacki จากมูลนิธิเอเชียประจำประเทศ นำเสนอมุมมองต่อสถานการณ์การเมืองสหรัฐฯ ก่อนการเลือกตั้ง วิเคราะห์แนวโน้มผลการเลือกตั้ง และผลกระบทของการเลือกตั้งดังกล่าวต่อนโยบายต่าง ๆ ของสหรัฐฯ ทั้งด้านการเมืองและความมั่นคง เศรษฐกิจ และการต่างประเทศ รวมถึงผลกระทบต่อไทยและภูมิภาค ภายหลัง ได้มีช่วงถามตอบโดยเปิดโอกาสให้ข้าราชการกระทรวงฯ ที่เข้าร่วม ถามคําถามและแลกเปลี่ยนข้อคิดเห็นในประเด็นที่อยู่ในความสนในบรรยากาศที่เป็นกันเอง ทั้งนี้ มีผู้เข้าร่วมกิจกรรมดังกล่าวราว 60 คน จากหลายหน่วยงานของกระทรวงฯ

      On 10 September 2020 (at 14.00-16.00 hours) the Department of American and South Pacific Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, co-organized a Roundtable Discussion on the 2020 U.S. Presidential Election at Meeting Room 3. Mr. Witchu Vejjajiva, Director-General of the Department of American and South Pacific Affairs gave the opening remarks before a panel of American political experts, namely Mr. Dan Fineman of Credit Suisse Bank, Mr. Paul Wedel, member of the Board of Directors of the Fulbright Program, Mr. James Stent, member of the Board of Directors of the Siam Society Under the Royal Patronage, and Mr. Thomas Parks and Mr. Benjamin Zawacki of The Asia Foundation, shared their perspectives of the current political situation in the U.S. before the election, as well as their analysis of its potential outcome, the election result’s effect on U.S. policies in various areas, including political-security, economics, and foreign affairs, as well as its implication for Thailand and the region. This was followed by a Q&A session which gave the opportunity for participants to ask questions and exchange views on issues of interests in an open and friendly atmosphere. Around 60 officials from various agencies of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs participated in this roundtable.
